With all computer activities; there is more than one way to complete any task. This brief tutorial demonstrates one way to download images.
If you feel the need for hands on support, you may arrange an on-line support session, where I will connect to your computer over the internet, and walk you through the upload process. To accomplish that, first download the application that establishes a communications link between my computer and yours. Once connected, I can see your screen and interact with you computer by controlling your mouse and keyboard. To do this, you must download a small program from here >

The WEB sites I host are based on Microsoft's Sharepoint Services, and as in all Microsoft Office Applications, Items are first selected before an action can be taken. So to download photographs from this WEB site, they must first be selected.
In the illistration below you can see [] check boxes under each image. The images with a check mark in the box have been selected. The Actions that can be taken are displayed when pulling down the Actions menu, explained further on...
Note, images don't need to be checked for viewing; in fact, if one or more images are checked when you pick Slide Show from the Actions menu, then only checked images will appear in the show.
Two images have been selected
Next, focus your attention on the library tool bar. illistrated below
Toolbar Menus thoughout this site offer options based on what can be done with the currently selected items, and what security rights have been granted to your user account; so the available options can change.
The image library folder's toolbar offers the following options
| New | Upload | Actions | Settings | See the illistration below.
NOTE: Unfortunately, Sharepoint web site menus may include options that an anymounous user can't take advantage of. For example, the Site Settings Menu is only usefull to site members. Even if you are a site member, initially, all WEB sites visitors are treated as "Anonymous" users. This is because most public WEB sites doesn't require users to login. This site has a Login Button near the Top right corner of the page.
The Actions menu offers options that most visitors can utilize. Lets take a look at the options offered when clicking the Actions menu. See the next illistration.
For most users, the Download, View Slide Show, and Alert Me options are the most usefull. Edit, Delete, and Send-to require a user account and password. If you need one, just write me and ask.
The Download Process
To download images, first mouse click on the check box under the image(s) you want to download, and then click the Actions menu and select Download. That action will usually present a login dialog box. Enter your username & password, then click OK.
The next illistration shows the Download Pictures page where you can Select a size: before clicking the Download button to begin the download process. Remember, you are downloading only the Selected images, which are displayed near the bottom of the Download Page.
NOTES: One bug-a-boo I've found is that after selecting and downloading images, the check boxes for the selected images don't automatically clear. Leaving the site and reopening it again does clear your selections; however, if you forget to exit the site or manually clear the selection boxes, and then move to another area of the site and check more images to download, you may end up downloading all of the selected images from the first download too. Nothing's perfect but using a tool often is the best way to make using it easier.
Done....
